Balboa Park is famed as America's largest urban cultural park and the cultural heart of San Diego.  Located in Balboa Park are 15 museums, the world-famous San Diego Zoo, Gardens and Majestic Lawns, Biking and Hiking Trails, Recreational Facilities, and Restaurants.  Additionally, the park serves as a staging place for various performing arts venues, notables include the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre and the world-famous Old Globe Theatre, which presents at least 14 productions and 550 performances a year.  The Botanical Garden is aclaimed for its award winning rose garden and over 2,000 species of tropical plants housed in the Botanical Building.  Many of the museums along the Park’s celebrated El Prado walkway are housed in magnificent Spanish Colonial buildings, originally built for the 1915-16 Panama-California Exposition.

Balboa Park covers a huge 1,200 acres minutes away from downtown San Diego.
